J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic

Want to learn to skipper a race boat? The J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic is a great way to get introduced to racing or to refresh your skills!

The day will begin with a short classroom and dockside discussion on sail trim, boat-handling, and basic racing rules. We will then get out on the water and practice racing drills to get comfortable with maneuvers and starts. 

After these drills we will run a minimum of 3 short races. A Race Coach will act as race committee and will coach from on the water in a support boat. After the on the water session, we will do a race debrief back at Inspire with Après-sail beverages and snacks.

There is an option to “Buy the Boat” and pick your own crew or enroll in one of 3 spots on the boat.  Each crew member will rotate as skipper of the boat throughout the day.   

The J/24 Racing Skipper Clinic will be jib and main only with a skipper and 2 crew to allow students to lay a great foundation in racing.     

Race Days will run once a month November to February.

Pre-Requisites: BC Certification.  Must be currently certified to charter, with a resume of at least 6 days as skipper on a sportboat. This can be fulfilled at Inspire or by equivalent sailing resume.
